Perhaps the best thing about life on the mesa is expansive view of the sky. Especially when the full moon rises over the Sangre de Cristo mountains to our east. On January 30th and 31st of  2018 we had a special treat, the super blue blood moon. The super part refers to the moon being at Perigee or at its closest orbit point to earth and a full moon. The blue part refers to the fact that it was the second full moon in the calendar month, we had full moons on both the first and last day of January this year. And finally the Blood part refers to the total lunar eclipse that turns the moon a reddish color, the eclipse occurred here just before dawn on the 31st. With our 360 degree view of the horizon I was Able to capture both the Moonrise on the evening of the 30th and the eclipse and moonset on the morning of the 31st.
